Senior Design 1 Deliverables

Design Proposal

Due: Aug. 22nd

Initial propsal of the project.

Product Specification

Due: Aug. 30th (Draft) Sept. 6th (Final)

One page.
Contains Applications, Features, Specifications:
- Applications: how can this be used?
- Features: what can it do?
- Specifications: quantitative measures of what it can and cannot do, requirements for use.
Visually appealing, tells all in one page.
- Contains one or more graphics of product itself and usage of product in typical scenarios

Problem Statement

Due: Sept. 6th (Draft), Sept. 13th (Final)

Minimum length of two pages
Components:
- Introduction (why should I care?)
- Market and competitive product analysis
- Concise problem statement
- Implications of your success

Design Constraints

Due: Sept. 19th (Draft), Sept. 27th (Final)

Components:
- Technical Design Constraints
- Practical Design Constraints
- Engineering Standards

Approach

Due: Sept. 26th (Draft), Oct. 18th (Final)

Design Definition with Synthesis and Analysis of Alternative Solutions Leading to a Decision
Summary:
- Functional Overview
- Theory & Background
- Synthesis of Design Options
- Analysis of Options
- Justification of Design Decision
- Detailed Design Description

Mid-Semester Presentation

Due: Oct. 2nd (Dry Run), Oct. 16th (Final)

The mid-semester design review is a checkpoint that reports on project progress to this point in the semester. At this presentation, any deficiencies that are documented must be rectified in your final design review. At this stage of the course, you will be expected to show solid design constraints, a preliminary design, and a comprehensive implementation plan.

Executive Summary

Due: Nov. 6th (Draft), Dec. 4th (Final)

One page.
The executive summary contains an overview of the problem, an overview of the design constraints, an overview of the approach you took to solve the problem, and an overview of the novelty of your design.

Evaluation

Due: Nov. 6th (Draft), Dec. 4th (Final)

The evaluation describes in detail the tests you have run to verify your design constraints and the results of those tests. I expect sections for each major subsystem and a section for system test.

Final Presentation

Due: Nov. 15th (Dry Run), Nov. 29th(Final)

Presentation goes over the technical aspects of the design as well as an overview of the prototype and how each element was tested.

Final Design Document

Due: Dec. 5th

Contains all of the previous documents.
